The wedding day is one of the most important days in the life of a woman, perhaps second only to the birth of her child, and so a lot of time, money and effort goes into making sure everything looks and goes well. Unfortunately in the mad scramble to ensure every detail is attended to, one very important detail can often get overlooked, and that is the bride; at least her body. A lot of attention is paid to hair and makeup, but all the running around can take a toll on the bride’s health, if she doesn’t make time to eat right, exercise and get enough sleep. Otherwise she may well find that dream dress doesn't fit as well or that she doesn’t feel as good, and her big day may turn out to be a big disaster.
If you plan on exchanging vows any time soon, you’ll want to make sure everything goes well for your big day, but you have to make time to take care of yourself in order to both look and feel good for the biggest day of your life. You want to look stunning and leave everyone envious of your great physique, not to mention looking good for those all important wedding photographs. You want to make sure you eat the right foods and get enough exercise to keep the extra weight off. You'll have to be as picky about what you put into your mouth as you are about all the other details of the day.
You’ll want to consume as many fruits and vegetables as possible, along with generous amounts of water. If you must consume meats, ensure that it is lean meat and that it is grilled rather than fried. As hard as it may be try to avoid the sweets and alcoholic beverages you must. It might also mean leaving some of your favourite foods off your plate on the day, if you’re going to maintain your new body well into your new life as a wife.
Of course you want to make time to exercise; at least a good mix of weight training and aerobics, thirty minutes three times a week is a good start. It will help you stay in physical shape, but will also help you deal with the stress that comes from planning a wedding. Following these simple rules will not only make you feel good, and give you a great body but it great for your skin as well.
The foods you consume also affect how your skin looks. Milk, cheese, yogurt, and other low-fat dairy products and vitamin A, antioxidant rich foods are all great for your skin and help stave off the effects of aging.
Research shows that the psychological and physical benefits of exercise can help reduce anxiety and improve your mood. The right food can also affect your mood, so you’ll want to eat to boost your metabolism as well as your mood. A diet that is high in fibre and low in saturated fat is great for your mood. This will help your body produce an amino acid called tryptophan, which morphs into serotonin, a neurotransmitter that boosts mood and curbs food cravings and actually helps you get more sleep, an important component of your overall health.
Eat five or six small meals and snacks throughout the day in combination with an exercise regimen and limit refined carbohydrates such as fruit juices and white bread. These cause spikes in the blood sugar which subside later and leave you feeling like crap. A combination of high-quality carbohydrates from fruits, vegetables, grains, lentils and beans with protein can all negate the rise in blood sugar.
Finally a nice long relaxing bath or massage after all that hard work won’t hurt either. If you follow these tips, you’re sure to both look and feel great on your big day
